The IPTN N219 Nurtanio is much more than just an aircraft; represents the culmination of Indonesia's aeronautical ambitions. The name "Nurtanio" is a heartfelt homage to Air Marshal Nurtanio Pringgoadisurjo, a legendary figure and undisputed pioneer of the Indonesian aviation industry. His vision of a self-sufficient Indonesia in aerospace found powerful realization in this aircraft, whose first flight occurred in 2017, marking a historic milestone for the nation. The N219 was designed to operate in extreme conditions, typical of equatorial and mountainous regions.

The N219 Nurtanio was designed with a philosophy based on maximum versatility and operational reliability, especially in challenging contexts. Its high-wing monoplane architecture and twin turboprop configuration make it ideal for STOL (Short Take-off and Landing) operations, essential for landings on short and often unprepared runways.
